Through my analysis of the Kohl’s Corporation I revealed the evidence that I feel makes Kohl’s Corp. a solid company to work for or invest in. Their previous sales show they have held their own even through the rough economic period back in 2008.
It was actually the analysis performed by Kohl’s themselves that really solidified my feelings. They did not try to sugar coat a dip in sales in the fourth quarter of 2013, instead they used the data to set realistic goals for their company and really dig into what they can improve. Comparing the internal S.W.O.T. analysis to the external (which is created by the public), Kohl’s was far more critical of themselves. They really explored their weaknesses and threats. This way of thinking not only reassured me they truly strive to be a stronger company and learn from their data, but that they also understand they evolve or they fall.
Kohl’s also has a strong presence in the community. Their contributions and efforts to raise awareness of serious issues display a corporation using their name for good. They are a huge force in breast cancer awareness - not only with creating products to show off the cause but even turning their signage pink for the month of breast cancer awareness. Their determination to create long-term sustainability is another way Kohl’s makes a difference.
When looking into the competitors of Kohl’s I feel they have set themselves apart. Yes the departments are very similar but Kohl’s offers quality products while still keeping their prices low. They also create a different atmosphere for their customers by building airy stores, extended hours, and often avoiding chaotic locations.
The hiring of Michelle Gass to strengthen their presence was a great move by Kohl’s. She was a former major player at Starbucks Corporation for 16 years and I believe she will have a lot to offer Kohl’s.
The corporate milestones and awards earned by Kohl’s proves their desire for excellence. I believe Kohl’s Corporation will be a strong corporation for decades to come.
